Ask-Us-Anything: Editing and Publishing
June 1, 2024
This interactive online event gave participants the chance to have their questions about editing and publishing answered by a panel of experts, whether they were seasoned authors or just starting out. Hosted by Deanna Reder and Sophie McCall, co-chairs of the Indigenous Voices Awards (IVAs), the session also featured past IVAs recipient Smokii Sumac and past IVAs finalist Tenille Campbell. Questions were submitted ahead of time, with additional questions taken during the webinar as time allowed. Panelists addressed topics including the editing process, agents, publishers, marketing, book tours, and writing.

Statement of Gratitude:
The lands we live on connect us to the stories of our past and those that will be told in the future-the stories upon which our profession is based. These lands sustain and nourish us, and our relationships with each other help us thrive. The Indigenous Editors Association gives thanks to the the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ Peoples who continue to steward the lands on which our head office is located, in Vancouver, BC. It is in this spirit of gratitude that we carry out our work as Indigenous members of the publishing community.
