Salt & Sage Books: Sensitivity Reading Indigenous Content

There is a long, unfortunate history of appropriation and misrepresentation of Indigenous peoples in literature. As writing and publishing spheres encourage more inclusivity, editors must also be sensitive to the content they are tasked with editing. Even some of the most well-meaning authors may find themselves writing inauthentic or offensive passages when writing about culturally sensitive topics.
Join us for a discussion with Salt & Sage Books sensitivity readers Savannah Tenderfoot, Jordan Merica, Ronkwahrhakónha Dubé, Hinahina Gray, moderated by Salt & Sage Books representative Erin Olds, as they discuss their editorial experiences and offer advice for emerging and veteran editors. A form to submit questions or comments will be shared as part of the registration process.
