Hello. My name is Stephanie. I am Potwatomi, enrolled in the Pokagon Band. I am Turtle Clan.
Learning Bodwéwadmimwen, the Indigenous language of my Tribe, has shown me how language is the carrier of culture and community. While my professional life as an editor centers on the written word, studying the living language of my Tribe has reconfigured my brain and how I help others share their ideas with the world.
Inclusive communication is my specialty, and I share what I've learned in my forthcoming book, *The Elements of Inclusive Style: A Welcoming & Practical Guide for People Who Write.* I'm an advocate for inclusion in editing and publishing, and I contribute to this work through conference panels, invited presentations, guest workshops, and facilitated trainings.
