The Indigenous Editors Association (IEA) values the relationships it has with its members, partners, staff, contractors, and volunteers. This policy outlines the framework for refund and cancellation of IEA events and memberships by the IEA, IEA members, or event registrants. The intent of the policy is to:
The IEA reserves the right to refuse or cancel membership in accordance with the IEA's Membership Policy, the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Policy, and resulting Board Governance policies. If a member contravenes these documents, they are not eligible for a refund of their membership fee. If the IEA cancels a membership for any other reason, refunds will be provided on a prorated basis, less outstanding balance of accounts. Refunds less than $5.00 will not be issued.
IEA membership may be cancelled at any point throughout the calendar year. Cancellation will be accepted by email to info@indigenouseditorsassociation.ca. The member's information will be removed from the Indigenous Professionals Directory within 5 business days.
Membership cancellations received within 30 days of registration are eligible for a full refund within 30 days of cancellation. Membership cancellations received beyond 30 days of registration will be refunded on a prorated basis. Refunds less than $5.00 will not be issued.
The IEA reserves the right to cancel an event due to low registration or other circumstances which would make the event non-viable. If the IEA cancels an event, registrants will be offered a full refund. Should circumstances arise that result in the postponement of an event, registrants will have the option to either receive a full refund or transfer registration to the same event at the new, future date. Refunds less than $5.00 will not be issued.
Event cancellations will be accepted via the event registration platform. Event refund deadlines will be outlined on registration materials. Where an outline is not provided, the deadline to receive a full refund is 5 business days prior to the event. Event cancellations received after the stated deadline will not be eligible for a refund unless the IEA is able to fill the cancellation from an event waiting list. Refunds will not be available for registrants who choose not to attend the event. Refunds will be issued within 30 days of cancellation. Refunds less than $5.00 will not be issued.
If the IEA sells merchandise, refunds will be provided for unused merchandise whereby the original tags and packaging are intact and secure. Shipping fees are not the responsibility of the IEA. Refunds will be issued within 30 days of receipt of returned merchandise.

The lands we live on connect us to the stories of our past and those that will be told in the future-the stories upon which our profession is based. These lands sustain and nourish us, and our relationships with each other help us thrive. The Indigenous Editors Association gives thanks to the the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, and səlilwətaɬ Peoples who continue to steward the lands on which our head office is located, in Vancouver, BC. It is in this spirit of gratitude that we carry out our work as Indigenous members of the publishing community.
