Lisa Frenette is a Mi'kmaw (Eskasoni First Nation) author, speaker, and award-winning editor living in Ontario. Since 2016, Lisa has provided editing services and sensitivity readings through her business, Scribble Editing. In 2026 she was the recipient of the Tom Fairley Award for Editorial Excellence for her work on REDress: Art, Action, and the Power of Presence. Lisa is currently an editor for Portage & Main Press/HighWater Press, where she works directly with Indigenous authors. She has worked as an editorial consultant for Indigenous youth in the Bridge to Publishing Program, and was previously associate editor for the award-winning Inuit Art Quarterly magazine. Lisa is an advocate for culturally inclusive publishing practices, and has spoken on panels for Editors Canada, Magazines Canada, and BIPOC of Publishing in Canada. She has a BA in Communications from York University and an Editing Certification from Simon Fraser University. She currently sits on the council for the Indigenous Editors Association and is an active member of Editors Canada and the Indigenous Literary Studies Association. Her first children's book, The Wandering Feather, was published in Fall 2025
